Longing for a fascinating place for living with marvelous interior design? West Seattle Residence by Lawrence Architecture could be the right choice to consider. The design is neither old-fashioned nor too modernized—it’s in between. What becomes the main characteristic of the house is the use of glass and steel as its major components. This creates such a delightful combination in constructing the house, for those materials make the residence looks more remarkable and sophisticated compared to its surroundings. The lofty walls contribute to the magnificence of the design itself as they somehow create the image of hidden luxury. These high walls protect the focal and private space of the residence.
The preference of locating the main bedroom on upper level could be pointed out as a specific value that the house possesses. This actually related to the needs of adults or parents whose daily activities are more demanding than those of the children. Considering this, the upper floor tranquility is deemed necessary for the adults themselves, and therefore the main bedroom is located separately from other rooms. Meanwhile, locating other rooms like family room, media room, children’s bedrooms, and bathrooms on the same level could be seen as a wise alternative to make sure that the family members can interact with each other within the same meeting point.
However, there are two important aspects that need to be highlighted. The first one is about color palette. I notice that the overall design of the house is somewhat lack in color. While wondering about the architects’ purposes of formulating elements of color in such a way, I imagine how the residence appears to be if it were multi-colored in certain spots. For the adults’ bedroom, for instance, it is superfine to use pale colors like white, light grey, or light brown for both wall and furniture. On the other hand, it is recommended to apply bright ones along with brightly-colored furniture on children’s bedroom. For other rooms like living room and family room, it doesn’t matter to apply plain colors, but it has to be accompanied with colorful furniture.
The second aspect is the façade because for me it makes the house doesn’t look like a real house, even it seems like an informal office. Adding some flowery plants or outdoor furniture hopefully will adjust this image.
